Post 8: Audience Segmentation and Analysis

Audience segmentation is how people are put into groups on social media, typically based off of a niche, or interest. There are many different reasons to properly segment your audience. A few of the reasons include knowing what is important to your audience, knowing what channels to use, and to have effective advertisements.

There is a primary and a secondary audience. The primary audience is the people that are the most important to reach, whereas the secondary is still important, but not so important that you try to reach them first.

The emerging audiences are the ones coming up in the social scene and are important to pay attention to, as they could change how things are done. And the opponents are like the haters, they want to see a reaction and downfall, but you should still watch these people as they could create a big impact.

There are three main influences: Communities, Influencers, and Creators. Communities are the groups, or individual people. Influencers have the power to effect people's decisions, trends, and opinions. Creators are the people that create the content, trends, challenges, and more on social media.

When engaging with influencers make sure know who you plan to engage with, and what types of people they typically engage with as well. A good rule to stay by is that if you make yourself seen by first engaging with their content; there is no point in trying to engage with an influencers if you don't watch, look at, read, or interact with any of their content.

Look out for fake influencers. Fake influencers may use bots, or buy followers to appear more popular. If they only have a few likes, but thousands of followers, then that is a red flag.

An ambassador on social media is someone who promotes you and your work because of their interest and loyalty to the brand.
